Hold the Front Page - It's a Pixie Challenge

It's Thursday so that means it's time for another Pixie Dust Studio Challenge.
The new challenge is called  " In Between the Newsprint "
Use Black/White and ONE other color!!!

For my card I used the adorable Frankie Funhouse Fairy from the Funhouse Collection. I think she's wonderful, and perfect for those gothic halloween inspired cards.  As you can see my plus one colour is Red, I love this colour combination, to add more depth to my image, I used shades of grey rather than just black, afterall black + white = grey, so I think it's allowed tehe!!  I used a mini template from TheCraftersWorkshop.com for my spider web and spider.  I tried to give the inpression of stitches with my ribbon detail.

Thank you for stopping by, and I hope you have time to play along with this weeks challenge.

A little announcement...

Some of you may have noticed I have a new DT listed on my sidebar; Yes I've been lucky enough to get a spot on the Simply Betty Challenges DT.  I am very excited and honoured to say the least, I love working with Betty's images, and you should see the amazing talent on the DT, I'm surrounded by some of the most talented (& Wacky!!) ladies in blogland.

So I thought i'd share with you a little creation of mine...

This is the first of a few bookmarks I'm working on this weekend.  I've a fundraiser next weekend for my local Fibromyalgia Support Group and I promised to make some cards, and decided a few bookmarks might sell well too.

I used the adorable Franken-Jude from the Jude and his Shenanigan Crew collection of digi images just released at Simply Betty Stamps.  My bookmark is fairly simple, a card base, a black punched background piece, and them my image; I've punched the corners to echo the spiderweb and added some black ribbon.

Friday will be Challenge day over at Simply Betty Challenges, with our first challenge on September 17th, but don't wait till then to visit the blog, hop over there now and see the amazing talent Betty has aquired for her DT.

Thank you for stopping by and Enjoy the rest of your Weekend :)

Oh Alice! - What makes you Shine or Sparkle?

`Why, what are YOUR shoes done with?' said the Gryphon. `I mean, what makes them so shiny?'

Alice looked down at them, and considered a little before she gave her answer. `They're done with blacking, I believe.'

`Boots and shoes under the sea,' the Gryphon went on in a deep voice, `are done with a whiting. Now you know.'

`And what are they made of?' Alice asked in a tone of great curiosity.

`Soles and eels, of course,' the Gryphon replied rather impatiently: `any shrimp could have told you that.'

`If I'd been the whiting,' said Alice, whose thoughts were still running on the song, `I'd have said to the porpoise, "Keep back, please: we don't want YOU with us!"'

`They were obliged to have him with them,' the Mock Turtle said: `no wise fish would go anywhere without a porpoise.'

`Wouldn't it really?' said Alice in a tone of great surprise.

Harry Potter's visiting the Pixies!!!

Dumbledore, Ron, Harry Potter Hiimself and Hermione!
The Critters: Scabbers, Crookshanks and Hedwig!

Don't they look exactly like the movie characters?!
I'm so in love!!!
I couldn't help myself and had to use Harry to create a bookmark, and I knew exactly what sentiment I wanted to add to it....'I Solemnly Swear I am up to No Good', such a cool sentiment.  I purposely kept the bookmark very one dimensional, as I want it to be usable.  I used my label maker to make the sentiment, which adds a bit of texture to the bookmark without any added depth.  The background paper is a scrap i had lying around, and i used a textured kraft card for my bookmark base.

I can't wait to see what you all create with these awesome images, they really do capture the imagination.
Thank you for stopping by

Simply Betty Stamps Blog Hop Bonanza

Today's a very special day, as Simply Betty Stamps has 2 new lines being released, and they are both awesome.

Jude and his Shenanigan Crew
These images are inspired by Betty's very active toddler Jude. Matthew Synowics is the artist of Jude and Crew!

Punky Teens
The Punky Teens are a group of funky, fun, and very different kids!  Artist
Alexander Landa brought them to life for Betty.  His art style as you will see, is very unique and different... right up my alley!

I used the very sexy Drew from the Punky Teens line. I thought she'd work brilliantly on a bookmark.

All these fun new images you will see as you hop along are now available at SimplyBettyStamps.com.

Now onto the Hop!

Four lucky winners will receive three free digis of their choice from these two lines!  All you have to do is leave us some lovin!

Good luck now off you go blog hoppin'!

Time flys when you having Fun.....

I can hardly believe it, but six years ago today I married the most adorable, kind-hearted and handsome man; I never thought i would be this lucky.
We've been through alot in the last six years, especially the last couple, with Stewart's health problems, so I consider myself to be very lucky. I married my soulmate, and i'm so thankful for that.  Here's the card I made for Stewart to celebrate Our Anniversary...
I used the super cute Scottish Ian & Sassenach Anya from TGF with a sentiment from StampInsanity.  I found this tartan paper a while ago, and it's very similar to the McKenzie tartan, so perfect for this card.  I cut out my sentiment and airbrushed the heart with my letraset airbrush kit, and added some green pearls.  To finish it all off I added some dark green organza ribbon, and red roses.

I'm very happy to say that Stewart loved the card, and we've had a lovely anniversary.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend

StampInsanity Challenge #24 - Lace it Up, with Stitches...

This week we are Lacing It Up ~ With Stitching!  Faux, true or otherwise cool stitching and some lovely lace is the name of the game this week! Here's my card for this weeks challenge...
For my card I used the beautiful Pierrette from the Les Coquettes Collection she is definately one of my favourite images to work with, so pretty and romantic, perfect for so many occasions.  To create my background I took a piece of lace from my fabric scrap bag and layered it over a piece of lime green card, sticking it very securely on the back.  I then took a piece of dark orange cardstock, and trimmed it to fit at the bottom of my lace panel, I also trimmed a piece to layer my image on.  Then using a doily lace border punch, i created my lace border detail on the dark orange cardstock.  My lace panel is then attatched to the dark orange piece with some green cord (using a couple of large stitches), before i adhered it to an orange card blank using some foam pads to give dimension.  My image is coloured with promarkers and then layered onto the orange card stock before being layered onto my card.  To finish it all off I added some faux stitching and some green heart gems.

Thank you for visiting with me today, and don't forget to check out the luscious creations the rest of the Groovy Gurlz have made for your inspiration.

Pixie Dust Challenge Time :)

This weeks challenge is called  " Stitch it Up "
Faux or the real thing! Stitching and sewing is the "in" thing to do right now!
For my challenge card I had great fun using Frankie's Bride and Just Batty from the newly released Funhouse Collection.  My images are coloured with promarkers, and then airbrushed with black promarker and some blender pen added to give a grungy feel. I added faux stitching to my paper pieced background, and finished my card off with a threaded ribbon border and bow.

Thanks for stopping by and remember to check out the creations from the rest of the Pixies, you don't want to miss out on any of their magical creations.
